Is the following correct? To me this seems to be an assumption of the contributor. It is not in line with results from the German study for example (Anhalterwesen und Anhaltergefahren).

== Safety in extreme climates ==
This page covers the perceived danger from other humans. How about creating separate pages which deal with extreme climates, such as hitching in the extreme cold in Winter - eg Russia, Northern China, Canada, Scandinavia? There must be people on this site who are well aware of how to protect themselves when stuck outside in this weather. Topics might include sleeping outside, warming up, how to set up camp. What to buy beforehand to prepare for this.
