Could a native speaker please edit the style of this article? All this talking of Respectable Countries is so ugly. Does this imply that there are countries we are not able to respect? Fabzgy 15:06, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

It may be ugly, but the UK is getting a very ugly reactionary country run by a government that has all characteristics of Big Brother and then some more. My wife is Lithuanian, still has a pre-EU accession LT passport and on several occasions UK Immigration's "extended" checking has resulted in us nearly missing a ferry. We've seen cars from RO & BG actually miss the ferry! The respectable does not refer to us, I think most of us have no problems with any country, the problem is solely with the UK government and the "red top" tabloids. Hey
The euro tunnel crossing is only paid per car, while the ferry crossing is per car + passenger (except some temporary promotion from time to time).
It would be useful to re-do a complete brainstorm with the information regarding what is written here. Maplefanta 01:01, 3 July 2007 (CEST)

hay

is it really that you pay for amount of ppl in the car?
I hitched from calais to dover - ferry - and I managed to do it, though situation was unusual...
so I am still confused about how to really do it.
Is there any one who has SURE information about that?

I checked it for at least P&O and NorfolkLine ferries: driver pays only for a car, not for amount of people. Though a correct number of passengers must be listed on the ticket. Changing booking takes less than a minute (if no queue) and is free of charge. It makes hitchhiking possible and quite easy.

I didn't check personally, but many drivers confirmed thet eurochannel is payed by car+amount of passengers.

so maybe we could erase this part of discussion above, as it is confusing and misleading? Thanx Mirto 18:44, 26 August 2008 (CEST)

Tunnel hitching
Does anyone have information re. escape from calais to mainland europe but via the EUROTUNNEL? Are there any good places to hitch from calais eurotunnel exit without being seen by the authorities??

Thanks
: I tried, but failed. I am not sure wether it's possible, but surely not easy. The motorway leads straight to the ticket counter. you have to hitch the ride before the ticket counter, but cars there are rather fast and drivers seemed so confused from all the lanes and signs that they didn't even notice us. Then the staff sent us away by threatening to call the police. --MrTweek 09:18, 25 February 2011 (CET)
