: I passed Austria 3 times and it always went pretty well, just slightly worse than in Germany. My experiences are quite limited though. --MrTweek 13:05, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
: I agree with the original poster. Hitching through Austria, we got about 4 lifts from the Italian border to Munich. Not ONE of them was Austrian. 3 were German and 1 was Czech (who kindly brought from Innsbruck to Munich). Most Austrians simply darted past, without even looking at the sign when I had one. I waited for 2 hours in the rain one time until a friendly German picked me up. Definitley not a country I'd like to hitch through again!--Aaronishappy Yesterday I tried to hitchhike from Bratislava to Linz. I tried at the point in Bratislava where two roads head to Vienna with a sign saying "WIEN   LINZ", eventually gave up and walked the non-Autobahn route to and across the border and as far as Bad Deutsch-Altenburg often facing the cars with my sign and walking backwards or staying in spots with area to pull over for a while. This was from noon to almost sunset and only one car stopped, a Slovak to give hitchhiking tips. After hitchhiking across Eastern Europe and Turkey twice over the past three months I gave up and took a train to Wien but will try to hitch to Linz again today and post my results. — Hippietrail 09:09, 18 September 2010 (CEST)
