Border Crossings
== Border Crossings ==
Since Slovenia is a part of the Schengenarea, borders with Austria, Hungary and Italy are not a problem. Usually you just pass them without stopping, but sometimes the police would stop the vehicles and ask for documents (ID is enough for EU citizens). It is a little bit more strict Border crossing often get jammed, especially on the Croatian border, because the country is not a part of Schengen yet. You'll usually get stuck borders with Croatia in summer and the line of carsAustrian border, waiting time depends on before the trafficKaravanke (Karawanken) tunnel.
When leaving the country, don't forget that Croatia and Hungary dondoesn't use Euro() as their currencies, but '''Croatian Kuna''' and '''Hungarian Forint'''. You can exchange Euros in Slovenian banks or post offices. Croatia uses euro since jan 2023.
The link above takes you to the '''Slovenian Railways page'''. There you can find all about the train connections with neighbour countries (usually departing from Ljubljana and skipping small stations), as well as local lines, many of which can take you over the border as well. It is also the last way out, if you get stuck somewhere. (stay strong<3)
Of courseFor intercity busses check out Arriva, you can always use Nomago or Flixbus or any other websites and https://www.ap-ljubljana.si/ if your starting point is Ljubljana. Different bus line toocompanies cover different lines.
