Santiago de Compostela is a city in Spain.
Hitchhiking out
Getting out toward France was difficult as all roads kind of leave in that direction. Best I found was to head out from the airport in the direction of Lugo and then Oviedo. This is the coastal road route. From here there is a lot of tourists and you are more likely to get soemone foreign who is more likely to pick you up than the locals.
Sleep Hitching out ==Just outside Getting out can be difficult as there are only two roads that go out of Santiago the city, leading to many different directions. === All directions: La Coruña, Santander, San Sebastian, Portugal === The place indicated in the map, at the western entrance on the highway, is a small town called "Monte do Gozo"good one, a roundabout at the entrance of the highway, it works for all directions. Some Pilgrims stop To get there before entering just walk out from the city, or ask the driver of the airport bus (it leaves from zona nueva and bus terminal) to drop you off close to here (1 €, some Spanish will be useful to explain what you want). It's a huge center   South towards Vigo and has almost 2000 beds. Pontevedra There is a frequent bus line Repsol service station on the SC 20 that will can be accessed by foot where many drivers are going south. To get there you can take the number 5 bus to the terminus located on Rua da Poza Real de abaixo. Just several metres uphill you 'll come across a mini roundabout, go under the autovia to walking distance the other side and immediately turn left up the stairs. Then follow the footpath at the side of the town centreroad for 2 minutes and you will arrive at the service station. Apparently There's a water tap outside, however I cannot confirm that it works 's água portable. I approached people and asked in Español "hola, una cosa! Estás yendo hacia Pontevedra, por casualidad?" (Hey, one thing! Are you going towards Pontevedra, by any chance?)It's better if you try and speak Spanish instead of English. If someone respondes with donations"si" or "porque?"Follow up by saying "ah cool, yo tambien.Estoy viajando por España con me mochila y haciendo autostop. Créas que me podrias acercar alla, por favor?"Spain(Ah cool, me too. I'm travelling through España with my backpack and hitchhiking. Do you think you could take me there, please?) I was able to find a ride after asking roughly 30 people for about 25 mins. == Food and Drink
There is an oldschool and very cheap place with a great atmosphere and a terrace with a small statue at the beginning of Castron Douro street, if you get there from Virxe de Cerca street. I've greatly enjoyed my time there, not only it is dirt cheap, but it also caters to all your needs and you can get local food and drinks. However, as the owners are old, you can't expect to order there in English.
