==== Porte de la Chapelle ====
That's where the A1 starts and the local drivers say that they often see hitchhikers, so apparently it does work:) It worked for us as well, though I think . Though Charles de Gaulle might be a better(faster;) ) option. Anyway, to get there take the metro no12 12 to Porte de la Chapelle, and there walk to the roundabout. You can try getting a ride on the roundabout(there are traffic lights there so the cars have to stop) or you can stand on the oposite side, facing the roundabout, where the highway starts. Another good option is just hitching in the exact street where the metro is. There are 2 gas stations in that very street, just 50m deeper into the city. They aren't very crowded, but still many people going up to Belgium/north tank hereNorth fill up there.
''I waited 2 hours here getting nothing until somebody finally took me to Aire La Courneuve (see above) where I was only 5 minutes.''
I Someone hitched from here July 26th 2008 JULY 26 and it took me this person about 30 mins. I waited just Just waiting after the roundabout. There is a quiet lane that can be waited at where the traffic lights are, just after the roundabout. Hiker Markus. This avoids all the traffic that is going on the Ring Road (Boulevard Periphique).
