Oslo is the capital of Norway.

Hitchhiking out
Hitching out of Oslo is usually difficult from the city center(except going south). There are several motorway entrances behind the tunnel. The further outside the city you are, the easier it gets.
North towards Trondheim 6 or northwest towards Molde or Ålesund
The trip This is a superb spot for heading north/northwest: a "Circle K" petrol station on the E6 direction North which can be reached with the free IKEA shuttle bus. This blue bus is leaving from Fred Olsens gate 5 every hour on the "o'clock". It operates from 10.00 until 22.00 on weekdays and from 09.00 until 20.00 on saturdays. You could also jump on the metro line 1 or 2 to Trondheim takes the stop (Trosterud) at earlier/later hours, sundays and it leaves at higher frequencies, but that would cost a one day-zone ticket of 35 NOK.
Around The Circle K is 10 minutes walk from IKEA (Furuset) is an area where most trucks start. There is Once you are at IKEA just walk around the building to it's right side, and you'll se a "Statoil" petrol station on pedestrian tunnel taking you under the E6 direction North which can be reached walking from metro station "Trosterud", East of the centre (lines 1 or 2, direction Ellingsrudåsen). The metro in Oslo is called the T. From Straight on the stop Trosterud you go outother side, look to the leftyour right, left again down a pathway following the hill, over the footbridge and continue down and highway takes you are behind directly to the stationspot. You When going north, you can also get there quite easily find a ride here. Anyways, for freeshorter rides, taking the IKEA bus going once per hour from Dronningsgate near first good petrol station on the main station directly highway is called "Skedsmokorset". You might be offered rides to IKEA. From there the Oslo airport, in case you can walk back are trying to the streetget further, turn left (south-west) turn left make sure you jump off at the second roundabout and then cross the E6. The Statoil station then is to your left and can be reached by the next street on your leftSkedsmokorset.
:abstorz was able to hitch a ride onto the motorway behind the tunnel in the area of Etterstad, but it can't be bad to get even further out of the city. Once on the motorway everything went fine.
South towards Göteborg 6 and east towards Stockholm 18
Note: If you want 're heading to go south-east Sweden on the E6 take metro line 3 E18 you have to "Mortensrud" and get off at start on the last station, then cross the bridge over metro track and walk for about 300 meters. You will enter petrol station on motorway E6. Ask drivers Be very careful as thereis only one point where the E6 branches to the E18. Very good spot! Also It's fairly easy to miss, but when you see it ask the trash driver to turn off even if they are continuing south. There is worth checking for a pre-hitch dive. Nikkou found tons of bagels there in Jul 2016roundabout where you can get out, and then the driver can get back on the E6.
The best place to hitch hike is the bus station down the road described beneath. From the petrol station there is a road to the right that leads to a small path on the right side where the bus station is. It's visible from the petrol station.Option 1 - Barcode
Peregrine had luck finding a ride going all With the way new iconic addition to the Swedish border within 20 minutes Oslo high-rise waterfront, Barcode, hitchhiking south directly from the motorway on-ramp next city centre has become much easier, and thus removed the need for the 30 minute metro ride to Mortensrud (option 2). From the petrol central station near Mortensrud. However, just pass the women driving high-rises until the vehicle cautioned that they have seen many people standing there trying to get rides unsuccessfully end, where it turns right (and that it is quite dangerous with such a short south). Follow the sidewalk on ramp so close this for about 250 meters, until you get to a traffic light. On the 80 km/h interstate - that Peregrine should notify the source right side of their information that there is a much safer bus stop to hitch from just down the road. Looking more carefully you will find that going south on E6 away from this petrol station, maybe 300 meters, there is in fact a bus possible for cars to stop that may be (parking forbidden sign does not mean cars can't pull over). You only need a better idea...however with ride to the speed of the traffic, maybe only during rush hour..shell station at Mortensrud in order to get going further.
You can also take the regional train going "Ski" and get off at "Nordstrand" station, one stop after OsloOption 2 -S. Once at Nordstrand, turn left and go down the little hill. The large road with a lot of traffic is the E18. You can walk about 5-10 minutes in the direction of Oslo (turning right) to the Ulvøya Island crossroad. There is a bus stop right after a traffic light and you can get picked up quite easily. Have a sign to make sure you get on to the right road.Mortensrud
Alternatively you may want Take metro line 3 to try Esso petrol "Mortensrud" and get off at the last station (diesel is cheaper there so lots of people fills up there , then cross the bridge over metro track and other advantage is there is a MC Dwalk for about 300 meters. right next to it)You will enter petrol station on motorway E6. To get Either ask drivers there, take subway hitchhike on the busstop on the motorway just 100 meters next to Hellerudthe gasstation, turn right into Smalvollveien on the onramp itself, or on the busstop before the onramp. Basically just go there and walk till you get find your favorite way to Esso. Some might find useful to know that there seem to be fewer ticket controls on that linea ride going south.
=== West towards Bergen === Option 3 - From Ljansbakken (closer to the city than the other ones)
To get Take one of the following buses 83, 500, T9 to Bergen, take the local train out to "Sandvika", from where you can either take a bus or walk along stop Ljansbakken. This spot is before the road (quite turns into a motorway at a few k's) until it turns from dual carriageway busstop with plenty of space for people to pull over safely, a simple country road, where you can just hitch along the sidesign might be useful at this spot.
Alternatively take the train to "Honefoss", walk up the hill and out to the road, and there is an information point where it's easy for drivers to pull inOption 4 - all traffic from Oslo to Bergen goes past this point.Hellerud
There You may want to try Esso petrol station (diesel is cheaper there so lots of people fills up there and other advantage is there is a MC D. right next to it). To get there, take subway to Hellerud, turn right into Smalvollveien and walk till you get to Esso. Some might find useful to know that there seem to be fewer ticket controls on that line.  === West towards Bergen, or southwest towards Stavanger and Kristiansand=== The road to Bergen diverges from the southwestern road at Sandvika. If your ride is going the other way, just get off at one of the gas stations before Sandvika and keep hitchhiking from there.  Petrol StationOption 1 - Onramp at Skøyen on  This option is fairly close to the Drammensvein heading west city centre. Take a train or a bus to (next Skøyen), and walk southwest towards the highway. There is a big roundabout a a little closer to the Mercedes hightway, and BMW buildings)a 100 meters further down the onramp you'll see a bus stop with plenty of space to pull over. This is a favorite spot for many hitchhikers heading west. From here option 2 is also close by, a gas station that is just 600 meters down the highway. Many people leaving Oslo in  Option 2 - Gas station at Maritim Take the morning bus 31 or 31E to go the stop (Maritim) and walk for 50 meters to the surrounding suburbs for work stop gas station close by. The station does not have too much traffic, but it is fairly easy to hitch a ride to the next gas station on the way towards Sandvika or Drammen, where there for petrolis more traffic heading northwest and southwest. You  Option 3 - Bergen direction only - Where the motorway ended there is bus 200 that goes from the City, you can reach catch it by walking to the stop Avtjerna and hitch from the city center bustop. All motorway has ended and it is just country road all the way to Bergen. The con with this option is that it the bus only goes once an hour (around 4 km and once every 2 hours on a footpath along sunday). It is also quite far out from Oslo, and public transport can be pricey. But if you just miss the Drammensvein) bus you can change to option 1 or by Bus (TE 1,2. Option 4- Bergen direction only - Onramp at Sandvika Catch a train to Sandvika,8when you get off the train walk in the direction the train was moving for 100 meters, 10 or 14 till Martimturn right and then left on the bigger road (Elias Smiths Vej), follow the road until a roundabout and turn right, and you will see the entrance to the highway. from hear There you can easily ask drivers if they are going stand with a sign hitchhiking to one of the spots mentioned above. Remember that most cars will not be going very farHønefoss, where there's a gas station.
Hitchhiking from Oslo to Bergen can be pretty challenging in winter. I have tried from west of Oslo and without any luck I turned to the area where the goods terminals located. It is in the north east side of the city. Keep in mind most of the trucks are using RV 7 to go to Bergen and try to avoid being left at the small towns like Gol, Hemsedal which can prove very hard to get out of.
If you want to cover a long distance by a truck your best chance to get a truck to your destination from Schenker Goods Terminal near Alna Senter. From the central station you can eighter take subway to Tveita Metro stop and walk across the E6 by Ytre Ringvei or take the train to Alna. You will not miss huge Schenker sign board. It is forbidden to enter the terminal area so wait outside the gate at the Alnabruveien and Terminalveien with a sign of your destination, by doing this you would also catch up a ride by Tollpost Globe ASs trucks. The trucks continues on Alnabruveien keeps eighter on the E6 South, E18 West or E16. Trucks leaving for E6 north turn into Terminalveien.
Hitching In
From Oslo (Rygge) Airport
Oslo (Rygge) is an airport located about 75 km South of Oslo, on the E6 direction Göteborg. To reach Oslo via HH, you simple need a sign for Oslo and you can either hitch from the airport or walk about 1.5 km to (North direction, along the motorway) the Rygge on-ramp where local traffic passes at the roundabout. The first petrol station is a few kilometres North, around Moss. From there it's rather easy to get a direct ride to Oslo.
Yes, the airport is small, so traffic is light. When you come out of the terminal building; the motorway in front of you is the E6, and Oslo (North) is to the right. I walked the one mile along the airport service road (hitching without success)and then hitched from the roundabout.
Or you can just stand at the end of the car park building on the slip road (turn right out of terminal building and walk until you reach the end of the building). I just hitched to Oslo city centre in one lift (by holding up an 'Oslo' sign). The first car stopped. Or you can ask people at the airport if they're going to Oslo. My brother did this and got a lift with the first person he asked. I was heading East to Töcksfors (just over the Swedish border on the E18) so got dropped at the junction of the 151 near the town of Son and continued East from there. Not the easiest hitch (4 hours) but still much quicker than getting the airport bus into Oslo and then the Stockholm bus back out to Töcksfors. I found drivers friendly, willing to go a little out of their way, and everyone spoke good English.
From Oslo (Torp) Airport
To reach Oslo, simply go to the multi-storey car park which is adjacent to the terminal and then follow arrows to the exit. Then head to the gates where drivers pay for the parking, it's at the exit from the car park area. Stand right behind these gates. Payment takes a couple of whiles and drivers should have the time to notice you, there's also a plenty of place for them to stop to pick you up.
Public Transportation
It's very easy and relaxed to get into the subway for free. At least one hitchhiker rode for more than a week on bus, tram and subway without ever buying a ticket. If you get busted, just choose to pay later, give a false address and you will never hear from them again.
The ticket is 30 kr. Note that you can buy it on the train (for 50 kr if you buy it from a person instead of the machine) and they might not check, but it's almost impossible to dodge on regional trains.== Nomadwiki & Trashwiki ==
== Other Useful Info ==nomadwiki
Free luggage storage: There are free lockers in the main Oslo library if you want to store luggage for free (you need a ten kroner coin, which you'll get back after).
Also in USE IT on Møllergata 3, in the very centre, you can find free luggage storage, free wi-fi, free coffea and frew condoms.

CAMPING: To the east of Oslo there is an extremely large and beautiful nature-reserve called Østmarka. The park has extensive hiking trails, numerous lakes with fishing and swimming, and a minimal amount of development. When I was there at the height of summer, it was never crowded if not almost completely deserted. Camping in the park is safe, free and legal and you could spend days exploring it. Best of all it's accessible from the T-bane and, thus, connected to downtown Oslo. Near the Trosterud station there's an entrance to the Lutvann Lake recreation area within the park. When you leave the station, follow the paved pedestrian road to the left just a few meters. There will be another paved road/bike path going up the hill to your right. Follow this all the way up. You will reach a cluster of apartment buildings. Keep following the asphalt path. It will end in a small parking lot and a raised basketball court I think. At this point turn right and follow the car-road. Turn left just past the basketball court and follow this road as it veers up and to the right, I think it's called Lutvannsveien. You will pass a military base and the entrance to the park is another 50 meters or so past that. The lake itself is another 5-10 minute walk inside the park, just follow the big gravel path. All told it's about a 20-30 minute hike from the station. For hitching this spot is ideal because it's also very close to the E6 going north. There's directions to hitching spots from Trosterud at the top of this page. If you are hungry the T-bane stop before Trosterud which is Haugerud has a remi supermarket opposite it which is nice for dumpster diving.

Another good spot for wild camping is Ekeberg park, very close to the centre (20 min walking otherwise tramway 18 and 19 very easily blackridable) with an amazing view over the town and safe, deserted, free and legal as well (just some runners and humans with their canine owners in the morning). There is also a paying camping inside it where you can sneak inside to have a free shower. E6 and E18 are at a walking distance.
The squat called "Blå" next to the culture house "housemania" in the city centre has a guest room with 6 places. It's worth asking for sure even if often it's full and it is not liked nor allowed to sleep on the floor.
