== Law ==
66-7-340. Pedestrians soliciting rides or business.

A. No person shall stand in a roadway for the purpose of soliciting a ride, employment or business from the occupant of any vehicle.

== Overview ==
Basically New Mexico is a spaceship. It's like a spaceship landed. All kinds of people: Old hippies, Mexicans, Indians, Jesus people with flowing robes and perfect posture scented strongly with Frankincense and God knows what other spices, weird people. 3HOs walking around in turbans. Mescaline. Fast hitchhiking.
== Personal Experiences ==
''As a single female, [[User:Jnadz|Jnadz]] only waited about 20 minutes for a ride out of Albuquerque, posted at the last exit on the freeway heading east. Turned down a couple trucks full of old creepers, but made it to Texas in two rides and just a few hours. Remember: it gets '''hot''' out there. ''  New Mexico is one of the most varied states scenically. Mountains, lush grasslands, canyons, deserts, pine forests: all can be found in beautiful New Mexico. Temperatures vary greatly depending on the area you are in. Some places may give you a hard time for hitchhiking: just south of Artesia, a cop told me he would arrest me for disorderly conduct if I kept holding my thumb out to traffic. I literally told him to go away and he never came back to bother me. The people here are mostly welcoming. I have some especially fond memories of New Mexico.
