Tickets for local transport across the country, both trains and buses are only EUR 2.00 for two hours, with unlimited transfers, or EUR 4 for one day. This includes some buses going abroad (e.g. to Bastogne). The cheap public transport and the low chances of locals stopping for you makes it best to simply take a bus towards one of the petrol stations on the motorway when going further away out of the country.

:We (a couple - man and wonam) traveled for more than a week in Luxembourg, almost all by thumb. No difference between TO capital Luxembourg_(City) or OUT of it. We've got a lift always at less than 15 minutes, even after a sunset. Twice, even when we were three. Lovely green country with many beautiful landscapes and very nice people. --Mik013 August 2016

Luxembourg is a very expensive country. Restaurants and accommodation is expensive. The cheapest youth hostel in Luxembourg City will be EUR 20 per night. Luxembourg has a huge financial sector - many banks, insurances etc. As an anti-capitalist you may feel a little cold there ;)
