Walking through this border is not allowed, however it is not that difficult to find a lift across. Before the first police checkpoint, you must ask the drivers of the waiting cars for a lift through. Every driver has get a paper with the number of persons in the car from the officer at the first checkpoint, so it can also be a good idea to make him your friend, because he could help you finding a lift. You have to get in a car before they get their paper slip, because the won't pick you up after.

Unfortunately, long waits of up to 8 hours are common at this border especially if coming from Ukraine, so even once The officers on the Polish side may be helpful and find you get into a car, but the officers on the Ukrainian side here do not like hitchhikers and may insist that you must be patient.
