Walking through this border is not allowed, however it is not that difficult to find a lift across. Before the first police checkpoint, you must ask the drivers of the waiting cars for a lift through. Every driver has get a paper with the number of persons in the car from the officer at the first checkpoint, so it can also be a good idea to make him your friend, because he could help you finding a lift. You have to get in a car before they get their paper slip, because the won't pick you up after.
Unfortunately, long waits of up to 8 hours are common at this border especially if coming from Ukraine, so even once you get into a car, you must be patient. It could be worth the time to make a detour and cross for example via [[Shegyni-Medyka_border_crossingMedyka border crossing|Shegyni-Medyka]] where you can walk over the border.
