More and more technically advanced gadgets come at hand for hitchhikers. Hitchhike from a [[Liftershalte]] or find the right spot, with comments from other users, on [[Hitchbase]] and [[Hitchwiki]]. But what to do when there is no internet and no recommendation for a good starting place?

Rule of thumb: The faster the trafic, the more space to stop (safely) is needed.

Maps - check out maps.google.com or a map in the city for a good spot to start. Ideally is a petrol station, but any place with loads of space and slow traffic will do. There are many sides on the net where you can find public transport plans.
