backgroundThis is a wiki for hitchhikers, so we don't need a neutral point of view, we need the hitchhiker's point of view.
If we stick to writing simple, straightforward articles, then we will end up with a simple, straightforward guide. It'll be a wonderful source of information, and the wiki element of it is something to be admired. But the end product will just be a copy of what already exists on the Internet. With HPOV we've got the potential to really make effective use of this wiki and create a guide that's unique in every way, and more interesting to read. ==Personal stories==
Personal stories can be very illustrative of the hitchhiking situation in a place. So this is definitely allowed. But it should be in a different style, clearly seperated from the rest of the article.
: If so, what is a hitchhiker, and what is the hitchhikers point of view? If a non-hitchhiker wanted to hitchhike out of town, what would be his or her point of view?

A hitchhiker is someone who hitchhikes. Anybody is welcome to hitchhike. The hitchhiker's point of view is one from standing on the side of the road or at a gas station and asking for a ride. Or someone who is interested in doing this and looking for more information about how, where, what, who, whatever.

E.g. “Guaka<small>TalkCS</small> waited less than 5 minutes on this spot.”

stubTom: I strongly believe we should be heading towards a guide that contains not only information about hitchhiking, but also a range of related personal stories and experiences. Not only because information can already be found elsewhere, but also because stories relating to a piece of information make that information easier to memorise. For example, the Signs page could include any anecdotes that you want to tell about signs that you've used in certain situations, and what happened. Info about a hitchhiking spot in a city could include a story about something interesting that happened there, the shitty food that you were trying to eat, the driver that gave you a wonderful lift, food, a bed for the night, etc. Also, I don't think there's anything pretentious about adding our names to article pages; we don't need to try and hide the personal touch of this wiki!I just feel that with the unique way in which this guide is being created, we shouldn't let it just become an information source like any other of the great guides out there, but instead show that hitchhikers are a living, breathing community, full with energy to burn and stories to tell. I haven't gone as far as I've described in any articles yet, but I would if it was encouraged, I would love to read your tales and I'm sure any non-contributing visitors would too.
