Some users create logs of their hitchhiking mileage.

Here is a discussion about keeping hitchhiking statistics. Further, Prino has a computer program to record the trips and keep easily track and statistics of them. The program can be downloaded from the files section of the Hitching group on Yahoo!. The convoluted format of the input to the program is described in Keeping statistics.

Note from Prino: The programs don't record the trips, you will have to manually enter them in a simple text file. The programs just process this file and produce a number of more (or less) useful output files that you can massage to put on this site. I've started work on a Wiki-fication program, it currently is capable of generating all three tables on my Summary page and a raw version of the log per year pages. (Raw in the sense that it does correctly produce the little table at the top of these pages, but that the bottom table, with all actual rides, will require some manual post-processing to cater for those places that cannot be properly linked to, such as M25 Junction 23 or Parking on E314 between exits 28/29)
