Many hikers and climbers from Burlington will take this Route into New York opposed to the Ferry, because it's cheaper and still a faster trip otherwise. You can grab a bus from the public transportation for $1.25, get off right after the bus turns off the 7. There is a shoulder just beyond the light to hitch-hike from. DSKVR didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes. Be picky about the ride you accept, one of the worst places to get stuck along the 9n/74 in upstate New York where the majority of locals hate hitch-hikers and the tourists won't even acknowledge your existence. It once took an experienced hitch-hiker 3 days to escape the lower Adirondack.
