When was your last hitchhiking trip? Looking forward to yet the next!? Try this winter... Spend new year somewhere completely random, maybe even with your driver! Hitching is really easy in winter: no hitching queues, people don't like to leave hitchers standing in the cold, and why wait until spring or summer?
It also gets you into gear for the next hitchhiking week in Europe, taking place on 789, the 7th of August 2009. According to the latest polls, with 29 people voting already, almost 50% of the votes are for the Ukraine, mainly Odessa. We invite you to cast <i>your</i> vote and to share your opinion.
The actual destination in the Ukraine will depend not only on where we would like to go, but also on the support we get from local groups in the Ukraine. In Paris at the 888-event we agreed we want to have some kind of a welcoming group that can facilitate a location for us to stay, and who can also possibly arrange communication with local authorities and press.
We will therefore further discuss the location in the new hitchhiking forum that is part of hitchwiki. We will also need to communicate with some groups in the Ukraine and other surrounding countries to help setting up a good base in the Ukraine. So it looks like the location will be Ukraine, but if you're convinced that another place is so much better, make yourself heard.
