* hhfed.org
** Then we can have eu.hhfed.org for Europe and leave the space for other to step it. (af.hhfed.org, as.hhfed.org, am.hhfed wuhu!). The fact that the main domain does not contain any locale (it would for euhhfed.org) doesn't restrict it to a place. It can be extended later. It would be sad to limit the initiative from the start. Though I understand that we should start with just Europe, it would be nice to leave the door open.
** Almost the same, but I slightly prefer hitchfed.org to hhfed.org Somewhatofftheway 18:12, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
** This I like, and it not only opens the door for other continent-wide federations but also would allow us to offer hosting in cases where people wanted to start a local club but did not have resources/skills to put up their own website. This might be useful to some people. Somewhatofftheway 18:06, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
* The Federation of European Hitchhikers.
** I gave my reasons in the email, but I think it would be a big mistake to give it a name which obscures its purpose for not-very-intelligent members of the media or bureaucrats. Domain name would be eurohitch.org Somewhatofftheway 17:02, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
** I don't like the fact that the localisation (Europe) is in the root domain. Plus I don't like the fact that it's in english. Half Europe has Russian as at least a second language. That's why I favour something in a neutral language like esperanto. An acceptable solution would be to have two urls for the website. This one for the english speakers, and another one for the russian speaker (solution that I still find inferior to an esperanto name). Or to have 3 urls, the main one being the esperanto one. Other than that, I love it --Sitarane** I hate to make this argument as a native speaker (normally the German guys do it) but the closest thing you get these days to being language neutral is English. True, Esperanto is in theory neutral, but compared to English it is not much spoken. I can perhaps agree philosophically, but practically I don't see what advantage a non-English name gives. : "eurohitch.org" is taken... By us already
** Not really democratic, but the name he's quiet cool, I'm for it --MiSha 07:42, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
** I wasn't trying to preempt the discussion, I just have had too many times where when the discussion was finished it was taken. Plus, I get them cheap and I can actually return it for a refund within a certain period of time I think, so that's why!
