Hitchhiking out
North and east towards Novosibirsk and Biysk via M52 (also R256 - "Chuysky Trakt")
Option 1 - "Lazy way"
From the stop near the train station, take minibus 203 or 269 to the "DSU-7" stop (ticket about 40 rubles per person), then walk 400 meters ahead without crossing anywhere and turn right. Walk another 70 meters and just after the stop there is an excellent "pull-in" for cars to stop.
Option 2 - "Active way"
From the terminus at the River Station, walk across the Ob River over the "new bridge" to the traffic police post. When hitchhiking after the post, keep an eye behind you, as many cars pass by and then reverse back along the road or shoulder.
Option 3 - "Variation of the active way"
Hitchhike at the start of the new bridge at the bus stop; heavy local traffic here, but cars stop less often. The first or second options above are still recommended.
South towards Rubtsovsk via A349
From the train station, Spartak Square or any point on Leninsky Avenue, take bus 55 (runs every 10 minutes) to the "Altaisky Sadovod" stop, then walk back slightly to the fork with the Zmeinogorsky Trakt and hitchhike there.
West towards Kamen-na-Obi via R380
From the city center take any bus going to the airport or the "Lenta" supermarket (for example, minibus 144, every 15 minutes). Get off at the airport turn and hitchhike there—the road is straight but its quality doesn't allow for high speed, so you'll leave quickly.
Northeast towards Zarinsk via R374
Bus 15 from Novoaltaisk passes the junction of the Chuysky Trakt and Zarinsky Trakt. The nearest official stops are "Dorservice" on the edge of Beloyarsk and "Kiosk" in the village of Tokaryovo.
