Gatchina (Russian: Гатчина) is a city in Russia.

It is the largest city in Leningrad Oblast.
It is the only one of the so-called "palace suburbs" of St. Petersburg that has not been incorporated into the modern city limits.

North towards Saint Petersburg and Pavlovsk via R23

At the end of the residential area, the road splits in two – one coming from St. Petersburg into the city, and the other going to St. Petersburg and Pavlovsk. You need to take the right road. This is all you need to know about getting out of Gatchina towards St. Petersburg. In case of a Sunday evening traffic jam towards St. Petersburg, you can suggest to the driver to go via Pavlovsk and Pushkin, exiting in Shushary onto the Ring Road (KAD), if necessary.

South towards Luga and Pskov via R23

You can hitchhike right after the turn to the Palace of Paul I. You can also walk further and hitchhike right after the railway crossing and the turn into the new residential area. But it is better to reach the end of the bypass, which joins the old road through the city. There is an ideal spot at the exit near the FAETON gas station with streetlights.

East towards Tosno via A120

The main thing is to get to the end of the bypass road in the direction of Luga. The village of Bolshie Kolpany. There is an interchange with the road to Tosno there.
