Bakhchysarai (Russian: Бахчисарай) is a city in Crimea.

  • It is the administrative center of Bakhchysarai District; together with the settlement of Nauchnyi, it forms the Bakhchysarai urban municipality.
  • Former capital of the Crimean Khanate and the Crimean People's Republic. The name translates from Crimean Tatar as "Palace-Garden".

Hitchhiking out

South towards Sevastopol via the A291 "Tavrida" motorway

  • Take a local train (elektrichka) to the next stop "1501 km".
  • Take buses No. 1-19 and No. 3 to the "Pereezd" stop in the village of Zheleznodorozhnoye. Cross the railway and hitchhike at the triangle.

North towards Sevastopol and the Crimean Bridge via the A291 "Tavrida" motorway

  • It is possible to walk 1.5 km from the bus station to the junction with the ring road.
  • You can also take bus 1-7 or 9 to the next junction. The stop is called "Sevastyanovka".
