Bakhchisaray (Russian: Бахчисарай) is a city in Russia, located in the region of Crimea. It is the administrative center of the district and, together with the settlement of Nauchny, forms the urban municipality of Bakhchisaray. The population is just under 30,000. Formerly, it was the capital of the Crimean Khanate and the Crimean People's Republic. The name translates from Crimean Tatar as "Palace-Garden".

Many hitchhikers come here to visit the Bakhchisaray Palace or to take a train from Simferopol towards Sevastopol. Transit traffic bypasses the city via the Tavrida highway.

Hitchhiking out
South towards Sevastopol via motorway A291 "Tavrida"
- Take a suburban train to the next stop "1501 km".
- Buses No. 1-19 and 3 to the stop "Pereezd" in the village of Zheleznodorozhnoye. Cross the railway crossing and hitchhike at the triangle.
North towards Sevastopol and Crimean Bridge via motorway A291 "Tavrida"
- From the bus station, you can walk 1.5 km to the interchange with the bypass.
- Take bus 1-7 or 9 to the next interchange. Stop: "Sevastyanovka".
Southeast towards Yalta via Ai-Petri
- Take a suburban train to the station "Siren".
- Buses 1-4, 1-14, 1-18, 5, 6, 15 to the stop "Pereezd". Hitchhike from the cars leaving the crossing.
- If you don't want to hitchhike in settlements, take bus 1-14 to Sokolinoe. Right after it, the climb to Ai-Petri through the deciduous forest begins.
