Hitchhiking transit

During summer, there are massive traffic jams on the Anapa Highway, hitchhiking is complicated by many taxi drivers and overloaded tourists’ cars. If you have no need to enter the city, it is best to bypass Anapa via the A290 or by the northern bypass. After the turn to Vityazevo, hitchhiking returns to normal, with good roads like the rest of Krasnodar Krai. Due to the jams and local traffic, hitchhiking to Krasnodar (150 km) takes on average 4–5 hours.

Hitchhiking out

East towards Novorossiysk and Krasnodar via A290

  • Junction with the Anapa Highway. The "Vesovaya" stop for minibuses #115 and #132, fare 40 RUB. Ask the driver to drop you at the turn. Pick a spot by the roadside opposite the stele and hitch from there. Often there are fruit and souvenir sellers, people offering accommodation. Taxi drivers know many hitchhikers wait here and may offer rides.
  • Alternatively, you can take a bus/minibus to Novorossiysk and get out at the fork near Verkhnebakanskoye. You can then walk along Lenina St. for 15 minutes to a good spot where the roads from Novorossiysk and Anapa merge. This is for those who do not want to hitchhike directly from the resort area.

North towards stanitsa Varenikovskaya, Slavyansk-na-Kubani, Krasnodar

  • Village of Chemburka. Minibuses #110 and #121. From the stop, walk forward a bit and hitch near the gas station. Alternatively, take a bus to Gostagayevskaya. Fare for route 110 is about 70 RUB (27 km), for route 132 – 80 RUB (about 34 km). Pay the driver in cash or by card.

North towards Temryuk and the Crimean ferry via A290

  • It is hard to determine where the resort ends and the "real highway" begins. You can take the turn towards Vityazevo at the city's edge. Taxi drivers are active even further, so warn them of your intentions if accepting lifts! You can reach the airport junction by numerous minibuses. The road to the ferry branches near the village of Dzhiginka, reachable by minibuses #102, 103, 105, 107, 108, 122.
