The city has a railway station of the North Caucasus Railway, which can be used to depart the Rostov agglomeration towards the "Don" highway (M4), which here consists of both toll and free highways with their own features for hitchhiking. There are also minibuses and buses to the city running until late at night.

South towards Krasnodar on the free motorway M4

• It makes sense to get off at the "Steklozavod" railway station and hitchhike from Gulaeva Street up to the interchange with the M4. Just south of this interchange is a police (DPS) checkpoint before the bridge over the river. Several buses along this street go to the left bank of the Don and drop off at the turn to Rostov Port, but the position is worse there than at the police checkpoint.
• A "Metro" hypermarket was opened behind the DPS post before the Aksay bridge. Check if there are buses or minibuses to this location.

South towards Krasnodar on the toll bypass of Rostov-on-Don

• Take the train three stops past "Aksay" station (in the direction of Novocherkassk) to the "1993 km" stop. From there, it's only 1.5 kilometers on foot to the interchange in the settlement of Bolshoy Log.
• You can also reach the Bolshoy Log settlement by buses 152a, 236, 512, 515 and minibuses 111 and 223.

North towards Voronezh and Moscow on M4

• Between the Novocherkassk interchange and Bolshoy Log on the toll road there is the 1046 toll collection point. This can be considered a key position for hitchhiking both towards Krasnodar and towards Moscow. Find out how to get there and update this description!

North towards Novocherkassk and Shakhty via the Novocherkassk Highway

• From the "Steklozavod" platform, walk or hitchhike to the DPS post near the Aksay bridge.
• Buses 124, 133, 155v, 156, 232, 236, 240, 511, 512 and minibuses 2, 128a, 223, 240 go to the "Aksayskiy povorot" stop opposite the "Mega" shopping center. Here, flows from both Aksay and Rostov merge in the direction of Novocherkassk. Downsides of this position: locals ("seals") often hitchhike here and there is a high flow of cars acting as taxis.
