Bataysk (Russian: Батайск) is a satellite city of Rostov-on-Don. Hitchhikers come to the city when traveling from the south of Russia by train. Not all trains stop at the Rostov-Glavny station! Sometimes it is necessary to get off specifically in Bataysk, and then get out to the M4 highway. This description is for such cases.

Hitchhiking out

East towards A135

• On foot via the pedestrian overpass above the railway tracks to the east, about 2 km. First along Molokova Street through a private housing area, then through a block of apartment buildings. You can hitchhike at the triangle near the entrance to Building 65G, Vorovskogo Street.
• Take bus 6A to Leningradskaya Street and then walk to the highway near the "Yuzhny" aquapark. You can hitchhike either at the entrance to the "Zhemchuzhnaya" hotel or near the truck parking lot just to the south.

Towards Voronezh and Krasnodar on M4

• "Salsk Ring" Interchange. There is a police post, but the road to Rostov runs on an overpass. You may have to hitchhike at the merge or on the acceleration lane. From Bataysk train station, take buses 5 or 2 to Neftbaza. Then walk south, past the "Svetofor" supermarket and across the interchange.
• Interchange with Samarskoye Highway. Bus No. 8 will take you halfway to the "Tekhnikum" stop, then you need to hitchhike to the interchange. South of the interchange on the M4 there are many 24-hour cafes, truck stops, a spare parts market, etc. You can approach parked cars for a ride.
• Bus No. 5 from the station goes to Zalesye seven times a day. It leaves the highway several kilometers south of the last interchange. There is no official stop at the turn, but you can ask the driver to stop at the turnoff to Koisugsky and return to the highway on foot. After 600 meters along the highway, there will be a cluster of cafes and gas stations with lighting. From there, you can hitchhike both south and north.
