Asking around at the gas station can yield some results, but most of the people stopping here are local traffic. It is a much better idea to stand with a sign at the roundabout. Google Maps is somewhat unreliable here, but there is a big parking lot in front of Hofer where people can pull over after they've seen you standing on the intersection. You'll know when you see it. Judge for yourself, but you can definitely get a direct ride to Vienna city centre here.
