==A small hint about Firenze.
There are many bars in the city but most real expensive. For cheaper bars cross the river seperating the center to the less touristic side and walk around the piazza santo spirito to find many bars which are cheaper and filled with young Italian people. A bar in which they have drinks and coffee for normal prizes, cantains a small library and is guest to live musician and cool shows every night is LaLité, Libreriacafé at the via de Borgo San Frediano 20r.

When hiking to Pisa, try to go by motorway Firenze-Mare, which you can reach by going to the airport. Don't go by the federal road, there are no petrol stations and lots of "No autostop" signs.
