: Hey, I also think that it's better to put the boxes to the right because otherwise you have two columns on the left (the white one that appears on every page and the "basics", "places" and "also in hitchwiki" boxes). I think the lay-out and the informativity of Mikael's draft is better than of the current start page. However, I'd also like to see some bigger pictures on the start page to not only have verbal information but also something nice to look at – or more nice to look at, the different colours are already quite enjoyable. The question is if it is possible to rearrange the page without overloading it with the big pictures.
: What I just found out: When viewing the page with a screen resolution of 800x600 pixels, the boxes are slightly overlapping each other and the the news and events boxes are sticking out on the right. I don't know how common this screen resolution still is, but maybe it should be considered. Then, a page with bigger pictures will need to be viewed in this resolution, too. I hope you succeed in making the new start page and improve it even more, I just added some advice here. --[[User:Kb|Kb]] 17:08, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
:: I would leave the left boxes on the left, because usually, you read websites from left to right. More important than a nice overview is, that a visitor finds what he wants as quick as possible. The pictures should be bigger, indeed. But how to do that? Arrange them vertically instead of horizontally? That would make the site much longer. --[[User:MrTweek|MrTweek]] 18:09, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
