Hitchhiking isn't that popular for long distance rides. However it works pretty well close to beaches and in remote areas where there is almost no public transport. Excepting on remote beaches the popular hitchiking with Pick-Up Trucks doesn t work in Costa Rica since its illegal and the police does really give high fines for violation of hoursthat law.
