A flow is mostly happening when you reach some mediational state (Hitchhiking as meditation), you become one with you and your surrounding--and hop from car to car in no time and have very moving human encounters.
Note: It can also happen while Aimless trajectory hitchhiking but it's not specifically connected to it.
