Kyiv, or Kiev in Russian, is the capital of Ukraine.
How to get out of Kiev
Kyiv is a big big big city, however it has a very efficient metro (underground) system, especially if you're hitching west or east.
- Where to: Kharkov
- Cost to get there: 50 kopecks (1 metro token)
- Last verified: January of 2006
Get the metro to Boryspilskaya station. From here there is a huge roundabout - walk around the outside of the roundabout until you see the turn off to Kharkov (XAPKOB in Russian). Walk down the road, and you'll probably see a lot of people also hitching there (there was around 40 last time I did it in the middle of winter), walk to the back of the queue and try to look like you're going a long distance - most people will only be going 30 or 40 kilometres (having a conspicuous backpack helps).
