='''IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT ETIQUETTE'''=
Because of California's recent exceptional drought and concerns from the South Yuba River Citizens League we ask that you ''please'' refrain from having any campfires at the river that are not in above ground stoves!

Please also consider that glass bottles have no place on the South Yuba and it is our responsibility to keep the river clean from litter. Trash cans are provided at the Highway 49 bridge parking lot. Locals work hard to keep the place clean for us, please return the favor.

== WhereWhat is a Hitchgathering?==We have lowered it down to 4 locations. Voting is in progress. [http://poll.pollcode.com/274487 Vote on the location here.]
===Information on Locations===The hitchgathering is an annual meet up where hithchikers, rubber tramps, train hoppers and wanderers from all walks of life come together to share stories, have a good time, and learn. Everyone is welcome! We also aim to promote a better view of travelers and our presence to the public.
*Creelsboro Natural Bridge, Kentucky. The 7th largest natural bridge in == Where is it?==South Fork of the country. Runs over a creek that flows into the Cumberland Yuba Riverjust north of Nevada City, California. Heavily wooded areaVoting Closed February 23rd. Natives and trappers/hunters used to take shelter under the bridge in storms. Hitchhiking is not easy but not difficult in the surrounding area.Results can be seen [http://youtu.be/8hQae5MlD7Q?t=4m20s Video of Creelsboro Bridge]poll.[http://goopollcode.gl/mapscom/ngcWV Location on Map274487_result here].
*Lake Powell, Arizona. Enormous deep lake with emerald green clear waters. Water temperature hovers around 80+ degrees in the summer. Very, very limited vegetation and no trees. Firewood would have to be brought in. Lots of rocks for cliff diving and exploring. Hitchhiking easy in the area and near a town for dumpster diving and getting food/supplies.[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gz314ENQOak Video of lake].[http://goo.gl/maps/GTyVq Location on map] *Wind River Lake, Wyoming. Headwaters of the Wind River located on the continental divide. Can be cold in the summer. Most isolated location deep in the wilderness, but near a highway. Lots of wildlife: deer, bears, etc. Heavily forested. Hitchhiking relatively easy in surrounding area. Most gorgeous mountainous scenery of the locations. Very far from any town. [http://www.scenicusa.net/images/JL09WindRvrLakePD.jpg Picture of lake].[http://goo.gl/maps/ZPJBX Location on map].  *South Fork Yuba River, near Nevada City, California. Highway 49 bridge This river attracts a lot of people on summer weekends, but going a quarter mile downstream is deep water, a cave, waterfalls, cliffs for diving and rarely any people. This is where we will be. Crystal clear water. Water temperature depends on dam activity but ranges from 73-80 degrees in the summer. Heavily forested and 10-20 foot tall boulders to hide campfires (above ground fires permitted with free permit, ground fires may need to be hidden). Probably one of the easiest places to hitchhike in the world. Easy hitch into town nearby for dumpster diving, collecting food/supplies.

All locations are easily accessible a short distance from ===Directions to Base Camp===From [[Nevada City]], [[California]] go 8 miles north on highway 49 and get off at the bridge crossing the South Fork of the road. All locations except Wind Yuba River Lake will be warm enough for swimming. All locations should be easy Hike a quarter mile downstream to have campfires and set up a camp without being disturbed by authoritiesthe large deep pool under the waterfall with the obvious dark colored cliff on the right. Yuba River may be more difficult to hide campfires since it Precise location on the map is a state park, although we managed last year without getting in trouble[http://goo.gl/maps/090NM here.]
==When ==
It has been suggested that the gathering start on the weekend to attract more peopleSaturday, then continue on August 9th, 2014. Base camp set as long early as people want to staymidweekIt's looking like it might start Friday, June 20th
