Hitchhiking out
West to Santiago de Chile (San Juis, Mendoza)
Ruta 7 is the primary highway (though still very small considering that) east-west across Argentina from Buenos Aires is huge, and getting out of it can be a hassle. This method is not necessarily the easiestto Santiago de Chile, and you could almost certainly hitch closer to the cityeverywhere in between.
Trenes de Buenos Aires runs some is huge, and getting out of the commuter rail lines in Buenos Aires, including Linea Sarmiento from Estacion Once. Estacion Once it can be reached via a hassle. It is recommended that you get to the edge of the Subte from Stations Once (Linea H) and Plaza Miserere (Linea A)metropolitan area. From Buses an trains that take you there, you'll want to catch a train going to Morenoare cheap because of the government subsidy. Also inside the city people are more afraid of robbery and that will make hitching difficult.
From Moreno bus number 57 "One of the best spots is Lujan RAPIDO" takes you to the paytoll of (Peaje Lujan, for 5 pesos). It has You can take bus 57 and ask to be dropped at the RAPIDO because there toll. There are more routes for the same bus routesline, and not all will take you have to get on the one that goes on the motorway. To make sure, ask for "Peaje de Lujan", "por la autopistaAcceso Oeste". From where the train leaves you in Moreno, The route according to find the stop of bus 57, take the bridge over the rails, to the road with many peopleGuiaT is: Plaza Italia - Av. Santa Fe - Av. Raul Scalabrini Ortiz - Murillo - Malabia - Luis Viale - Av San Martin - Cruce Av. General Paz - Av. San Martin - Perdriel - Int. A. Campos - Dr. Carillo - Av. J. D. There you turn left, walk 1Peron -200 meters, pass by the street which crosses the train lines, Av Dr. Ricardo Balbin .... and Lujan buses will be facing a lot more. Street names get repeated once youget out of Capital Federal, watch out for that.
Also in An alternative is to go to Moreno you can decide to continue by train to Lujan (or take a direct train to Lujan from Estacion Once, if available). This is the more economic way, it cost 2-3 pesos. But once you arrive in Lujan by train, you are still not and then change there. You could walk the several km to to highwaybus 57, but that might not be your bagroute "Rapido". There should Estacion Once can be a bus waiting outside reached via the station with a sign for the BasilicaSubte getting off at Estacion Once (Linea H) or Plaza Miserere (Linea A). Surely Once in Moreno, from where the most famous thing train leaves you in Lujan, to find the Basilica towers above the city and region, and is truly quite striking. The stop of bus is only a few pesos57, and will take you right the bridge over the rails, to the Bascilicaroad with many people. There you turn left, walk 1-200 meters, pass by the street which is a very short walk north from Ruta 7. This spot is good too. Not as good as crosses the paytolltrain lines, but it worksand Lujan buses will be facing you.
Ruta 7 is In Both cases you can also decide to not get off at the Lujan toll, but stay on the primary highway (though still very small considering that) east-west across Argentina from Buenos Aires to Santiago bus until Basilicum de ChileLujan, and everywhere in between. Once you get to Ruta 7, there that is quite also a bit of shoulder (though know that good spot at the traffic does not pick up the entire length exit of the highway!)city Lujan.
For those hitching to Chile, remember that taking food through the border is prohibited.
