If no one is against it, in a few days I will categorize messy Middle East countries in this way:
* First, [[:Category:Middle East (Asia)]] and [[:Category:Middle East (Africa)]] will be created.
* Created categories will be included within [[:Category:Asia]] and [[:Category:Africa]] accordingly, and not within [[:Category:Western Asia]] and similar, since Middle East region stretches from Northern Africa through Eastern Africa and Western Asia to the parts of Southern (and sometimes Central) Asia. --[[User:Sigurdas|Sigurdas]] 13:43, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

::As for most continents/countries, we so far used the [http://unstats.un.org/unsd/methods/m49/m49regin.htm United Nations Statistic Division], which seems to be a quite reliable ''categorization'' for the world. There, some part of the Middle East can be found under ''Western Asia'', some part as ''Northern Africa''. So in fact, they are not even mentioning the ''Middle East'', but use the continents for categorization. For me, this division is the most logical. ::: Anyways, I think we can continue keeping [[:Category:Middle East]] and [[Middle East]] page and categorize by it in addition to main categories [[:Category:Western Asia]], [[:Category:Northern Africa]], [[:Category:Eastern Africa]], [[:Category:Southern Asia]] and [[:Category:Central Asia]] (these unite all the countries in the Middle East by any definition of a latter one). However, if we want to use Middle East in the IsIn template, then creating [[:Category:Middle East (Asia)]] and [[:Category:Middle East (Africa)]] would be inevitable as otherwise it will be showing that Middle East is only in either Africa or Asia.
