::As for most continents/countries, we so far used the [http://unstats.un.org/unsd/methods/m49/m49regin.htm United Nations Statistic Division], which seems to be a quite reliable ''categorization'' for the world. There, some part of the Middle East can be found under ''Western Asia'', some part as ''Northern Africa''. So in fact, they are not even mentioning the ''Middle East'', but use the continents for categorization. For me, this division is the most logical.
