Kyiv is a very big city, however it has a very efficient metro (underground) system, especially if you're hitching west or east.
===North ([[KharkovKharkiv]])===Get the metro to Boryspolskaya Boryspol`s`ka station (might be spelt wrongthe last one on the green line) station. From here there is a huge roundabout - walk around the outside of the roundabout until you see the turn off to Kharkov Kharkiv (XAPKOB XAPKIB in RussianUkrainian). Walk down the road, and you'll probably see a lot of people also hitching there (there was around 40 last time I did it in the middle of winter), walk to the back of the queue and try to look like you're going a long distance - most people will only be going 30 or 40 kilometres (having a conspicuous backpack helps).
