==== Option 1: Rest stop Barje fuel station / rest area ====- South (Jug)
3€ and places for wildcamping around.
Service area "Barje", in direction of Zagreb. This service area is on the Ring around Ljubljana and is very well-served by a lot of long-distance drivers. To get there take bus number 1 or 1B in direction Mestni Log from the center. Go off one stop before last, called "Koprska". Continue straight (the bus takes a turn just before the stop "Koprska" - don't follow it, go straight on!) on the street Cesta V Mestni Log, after 2 minutes you will cross a bridge over a small river. Continue straight and cross the motorway over the bridge, and on the left side the service area is about 500 m away. There is a golf course between you and the service area, which you can cross by climbing its fences (not too high) if the personal allows you, which hasn't always been the case. If they don't, you should take an immediate left directly after crossing the highway (you're still on the bridge at that point), descending to the guardrail. You are now between the golf course's fence and the highway, which is quite a narrow path at some points. After a few hundred metres, you'll get to the resting area. Hitchhiker * Looking for StuMartinJ888 discovered that bus August 2022: Works very well. The door is still unlocked! Took us about 1 will drop you by the side of the golf course at what appeared hour to be the last stop before returning to town. No problem hopping the fences and crossing the course away from the busy motorway edgeget a ride, asking people.
*JackMcJackJack August 2023: This gas station and has been demolished and people rarely stop here, avoid this place. The on ramp beside the Lidl on Pot Rdečega križa is a 20min walk away from Mestni Log bus station. Most people here are heading south, but we found a ride to Šmarje - Sap gas station after an hour.
OROption 2: Highway entrance Barjanska cesta
Catch bus 9 in direction of "Barje" from the center or the train station and exit on the final stop "Barje". You can hitchhike next to the parking lot or walk down the "barjanska" street and try to find a better place. That's the entrance people from Ljubljana would use to enter the highway going south, so this spot might be less suitable for long distance picks, but perfect to get you to Novo Mesto.
Catch bus 9 to bus stop Pot Na Rakovo Jelso and go straight to direction where bus went follow Cesta Dveh Cesarev street (dont turn the left side where bus went after 100 metres). Asphalt road will bring you to place where you can see fuel station search tiny tail to it!Option 3: Highway entrance Rudnik
Not many cars go in this direction, and the ones that do usually do not enter the motorway here - this on-ramp mostly serves inter-urban traffic, so you might have to wait a bit longer. From the city centre take a bus line 3 in direction of "Rudnik", and get off at the final stop. In front of you there will be the motorway entrance. Cross the street and on the side of the on-ramp road, on your left, you will see a small asphalt surface where all the cars pass, and there you can stand and hitchhike easily. Pay attention that you're hitchhiking on the highway entrance (the left turn) and not on the old road (Dolenjska cesta), which is continuing straight ahead. Drivers going to Kočevje and Ribnica use this entrance.
OR== Sleeping ==
The best option in a walkable distance from the city centre would be park Tivoli. It is huge so you can easily find a good place to hide and set up your tent somewhere. People often drink there in the evening so it might be a good idea to sleep in or at least close to the forest, so nobody will bother you.
Another way to get Edit: if you go to the same gas station forest behind Tivoli, be prepared for it is steep. Go there during daylight and plan in enough time to take bus lines 1 or 1bB and stop at Tbilisijskafind a suitable spot. Keep walking straight on If you go until the direction bag side of the bus is going park (just before the forest starts) and soon turn left at the first street, Cesta Dveh Cesarev. After about 300 meter by feet go west you'll start to see the gas station some 50 meters away on the right side, with some gardens in betweenreach a little staircase out of stone. You can either pass trough one of the gardens Climb it and climb the fence, or walk few hundred meters longer to you'll find a convenient passage through calm spot to spend the fence. night
There Another place is shower in fuel station price 3 eur up the castle, close to the antena. Just follow the path going away from the castle entrance and it will take you to a small meadow and places for wild camping around.a small forrest.There is a bigger chance to be spotted here.
