=== East towards [[Malmö]], [[Sweden]], [[Stockholm]], [[Gothenburg]] === There are 2 ways to go to Sweden from Copenhagen, one being across the bridge to Malmö and one being north to Helsingør and then with the ferry to Helsingborg. If you choose the option towards Malmö then use one of the options below. If you're hitchhiking from Germany or elsewhere in Denmark, it's probably easier to first get to the airport and then find a ride going into Sweden, rather than trying to get a direct ride from before Copenhagen.

To get ==== Option 1: Kastrup Airport ====The best spot to hitchhike to Sweden, you want to move out of city center towards Øresundsbronis probably at Kastrup Airport. You can enter Take the metro freely without any checkpoints or turnstiles. Ticket controls are more frequent than in to the S-trains and as expensive (750 DKK = ~100€!!). Ticket controllers (or station "stewardsLufthavnen / Copenhagen Airport", as they are called) do not always check tickets when entering a train, so best thing is leave the terminal on the other side of the metro exit to just act normal the large parking lot and get off then go to the roundabout at the end, next stationto McDonalds/Netto/Statoil. In general, Just after the people who freeride most efficiently sit in front of roundabout there is a bus stop were the traincars are able stop, thus being which makes it a good place to hitchhike from. You will also be able to spot any controllers keep an eye on each the petrol station as the train enters the platformand hopefully spot some cars with Swedish plates from that place. No rights can be derived from this statement, This hitchhiking spot has been used regularly by Öresund hitchhikers and it's always at your own risk to freeride. But apparently was also the worse that can happen if you play it right is to ask for an invoice to be sent to your home which you will promptly ignorewinning choice in a Copenhagen-Malmö hitchhiking competition.

==== Option I: Tårnby ====On the road to If you are in a hurry you shouldn't accept rides that are shorter than Malmö, leading to the bridge, you might since it could be able difficult to hitch catch a ridealong the motorway. To get to this spot take a regional train Always try to Tårnby from Copenhagen Central station. The slip road to the bridge is on the opposite side stay out of the road Malmö's motorway network and if possible prefer to Tårnby stationfollow your driver into Malmö center if there's no other alternative. Next to this hitchhike Malmö's good spot, you can also ask drivers (McDonalds at Stockholmsvägen) than the hypermarket, where a lot of Swedes go shopping before returning homehighway system. (probably not as common anymore since If you want to travel further up in Sweden you should check out the strong danish krona have made it expensive for Swedes to shop advices given in Denmark. ==== Option II: Kastrup Airport ====The best spot to hitchhike to Sweden is probably at Kastrup Airport. Take Under the metro airport there's a train station with trains going to the Hyllie station "Lufthavnen / Copenhagen Airport", leave the terminal on the other side of the metro exit to the large parking lot and then go to the roundabout at the endother stations in Malmo, next to McDonalds/Netto/Statoil. Just after the roundabout there is a bus stop were so use it if it's the cars are able stop, which makes it a good place to hitchhike fromonly option left. You will also There might be able to keep an eye a ticket check on the gas station and hopefully spot some cars with Swedish plates from that place. This hitchhiking spot has been used regularly by Öresund hitchhikers and was also the winning choice in a Copenhagen-Malmö hitchhiking competition.If train, so if you're like me, you are in risk facing a hurry you shouldn't accept rides that are shorter than Malmögiant fine, since it could be difficult to catch but in my case luckily a ride along the motorwaycute girl checking tickets did nothing. ==== Option III2: Sydhavn Tårnby ====You can also take a train to Sydhavn, only 2 stops after the main station and hitch on Sydhavnsgade. We hitched before the shell service station because it was a weekend and a business carpark entry was closed. We also saw people with a sign just after shell. Its a good road. We had a lift on Sunday afternoon after 15 minutes.

On the road to Malmö, leading to the bridge, you might be able to hitch a ride. To get to this spot take a regional train to Tårnby from Copenhagen Central station. The slip road to the bridge is on the opposite side of the road to Tårnby station. Not much space to stop but as traffic lights cars are going slow and get chance to think about it!  === West towards [[Roskilde]]= Option 3: Sydhavn ==== You can also take a train to Sydhavn, only 2 stops after the main station and hitch on Sydhavnsgade. Its a good road.  ==== Malmö ring road for those heading north toward [[FynGothenburg]] or [[JyllandStockholm]] ==== Bear in mind that the Malmö ring road has no good places for hitchhike on it. There are several ways a few on ramps with gasstations but at all of them getting out stuck happens somewhat easily, ofcourse you will always find a ride somehow. One option that can work well is if you are heading further north and get a ride towards Lund (20 km from the highway) it is possible to accept the rideoffer to Lund and get dropped of in the northwest end of {{FULLPAGENAMEE}}Lund and hitchhhiing north west from Lund back to the highway. Just make sure you do not This works really well and quickly in comparison to the ringroad onramps.  === North towards [[Helsingør]], [[Sweden]], [[Stockholm]], , [[Gothenburg]] === Another option for going to Sweden is heading north to Helsingør and catching the 20 minute ferry to Helsingborg from there. Take bus 4A and get stuck off at KøgeVibenshus Runddel. If heading out On Lyngbyvej the cars have lots of Denmark this way space to stop, and the road becomes a highway shortly after. There is not at lot of traffic on the quickest as small on-ramps on the way to Helsingör, so try to get a ride all the way from Copenhagen to Helsingör. A sign might be of use. It cost around 29 kr. (3,90 euro) to walk on the ferry, but you can hitchhike a ride onto the ferry, often finding a direct ride to Gothenburg or Stockholm (It seems that most trucks will be heading southof the people Go to Gothenburg If they take this ferry) , and there aren't by standing in front of the ticket booth with a lot sign of service stations before [[Hamburg]]! Heading west your destination. the cars pay for 9 passengers included in every ticket, so they can take you have for free onto the following options:ferry. Still Valid 2022.

===== Option 1b : =1 ====One way out of Copenhagen which we found quite quick was to catch the suburban train from Copenhagen Central Statio to Tärnby. There is an entrance to the E20 headed west there, on the same side of the road as the train station. There is not lots of space to stop but as there are traffic lights the cars are going slow and get chance to see you.

==== Option 2: ====Catch There's even a regional train or the metro M1 and get off at new official hitchhiking stop ("Blafferstoppested") close to ''ØrestadFolehaven 84'' station, but there are only few cars passing by. Walk across the parking area of Field's So better walk pass it a few hundred meters and you'll find see the petrol station mentioned before close to the first on-ramp. Be aware that beginning of motorway 21 (there is a traffic light, so the cars are two on-ramps joining each other when heading west - make sure to be on slow) or try one of the most busy onemany busstops.

=== South towards [[Rødby]]If nobody stops, [[Germany]] ===The quickest way to get to mainland Europe is you could also walk some 100m behind the traffic light to get the ferry at hard shoulder where the port of Rødby, which sails to [[Puttgarden]] in [[Germany]]motorway begins. In case they are not going in the direction, where you get a ride in a carwant, the price of the ferry remains the same for ask them if they can drop you off at Karlslunde petrol station - a car with up to 4 peoplegood petrol station, so you don't have to worry about any extra payments that before the driver may have to make because of youhighway splits south and west.

An easier way to get to the same spot mentioned in option 1 is to take bus ''#A1 Avedøre'' to ''Folehaven/Vigerslevvej''. There used ' you'll see the crossing to be an excellent bakery dumpster along ''Folehaven'' which is the Mosevej where, but as beginning of December 2013 itthe motorway 21. Additionally you can take to following busses also going that direction. Make sure you get out at ''Folehaven/Vigerslevvej's locked': bus ''#10 Flintholm St. The bakery is run by kind people'', however''#133 Avedøre St.'', ask for leftover bread and you'll surely be given something'#65E Avedøre St. '' There is 's a great dumpster right at Karlslunde petrol stationsome meters before the crossing. You'll also find a bus stop where you can stand on, and or just pull out your thumb on the hard shoulder next to the Aldi's dumpster was open as well and full of goodiesstreet. A sign saying the direction might be helpful. Keep in mind that traffic might be pretty fast here already

Be aware One way out of Copenhagen which we found quite quick was to catch the if you go wrong way you are in troublesuburban train from Copenhagen Central Statio to Tärnby. There is an entrance to the E20 headed west there, on the same side of the road as the train station. ==== Option 2: ====Take the S-tog E towards Køge and hop off at Ølby.

After getting out of Take the S-train at Ølby or walk to ''Dybbølsbro station, get out on the right hand side of the station, in the direction of train, and move out ''. Walk towards motorway. You will, when you exit the station''Fisketorvet'' mall, find restaurants (Little Italy) and right just before that there is a right turn which goes into a main road will be an on which you turn right again, come under the bridge of the train, and then hit the motorway where you have ramp to cross the road and walk towards the '''left'''highway. It This is illegal to walk by the side another one of the road, but it is possible. Obviously, walk on the left side so you're facing traffic. After 1 km of walk the road ramps up on a roundabout, which if you cross on foot, before this road meets the E20/E40 motorway in direction of [[Rødby|Rødby4 official hitchhiking stops (havn"Blafferstoppested")]] (ferry point of South Denmark) there is another roundabout and at least 2 petrol stations. One of them has a Burger King and right outside the exit of it, is a good point to stand with a placard for seeking a ridein Copenhagen.

Look where Catch a regional train or the cars that pass you are actually going to improve your location if needed. A certain hitchhiker was at the aforementioned Burger King exit for at least an hour metro M1 and noticed that most people who went from there (get off at least at that time) weren't going on the way to Rødby'Ørestad'' station. So this hitchhiker moved to Walk across the actual onramp parking area of Field's and you'll find the highway where traffic was certain first on-ramp. Be aware that there are two on-ramps joining each other when heading west make sure to go be on the intended way --and cars were coming from more directions-- and he was picked up quite shortlymost busy one.

Catch either S-tog A=== South towards [[Rødby]], E or F and get off at Ny Ellebjerg station. Walk through the little alley on the south side of the station called 'Pylestikket'. Turn right on the main road and after a few hundred metres you'll reach the road Folehaven. There you'll see a few traffic lights to slow down the cars. Cross the road and there's and plenty of space for cars to pull over. If you don't have any luck along the road keep walking a few hundred metres and you'll see the petrol station mentioned before close to the beginning of motorway 21, or try one of the many busstops. Some km later Use one of the before mentioned options for going west, or another good option is to take the S-train to Sydhavn and walk south on the Sydhavnsgade, there will be places for cars to stop next to the road, at the Circle K petrol station or at the busstop (Sluseholmen). There is a big gas petrol station where called ''Karlslunde V'' before the motorway splits towards west and south. If you get a driver going west, you can look for foreign carsjump off here, and find a car going towards ''Rødby''. Have in mind that most people are going west.

=== North towards [[Helsingör]], [[Helsingborg]] ===Take bus 4A and get off Taking the ferry at Vibenshus Runddel. On Lyngbyvej the cars have lots port of space Rødby, which sails to stopPuttgarden in Germany is the quickest way to get to mainland Europe. In case you get a ride in a car, and the road becomes a highway shortly after. There is not at lot price of traffic on the small on-ramps on ferry remains the way same for a car with up to Helsingör4 people, so try you don't have to get a ride all worry about any extra payments that the way from Copenhagen driver may have to Helsingörmake because of you.

=== Ferry between [[Sjælland]] and [[Jylland]] ===Hitching a ferry between [[Sjælland]] and [[Jylland]] is possible, too, as you don't pay per person but per car on the ferry. Option #1 mentioned [[#West_towards_Roskilde.2C_Fyn_or_Jylland|above]] is probably the best way for getting a car towards Holbæk and further on to Sj. Odde or Kalundborg. Ferry timetables can be found at [http://www.mols-linien.dk/english Mols-Linien] but they run quite frequently. Be aware that the ferry from Kalundborg is very slow Most trucks going anywhere in Europe (about 3 hours to Aarhusincluding Great Britain)will go this way.

Copenhagen Both from Malmö, Sweden, and from Hamburg, Lübeck oder Rostock, Germany, it is a city whose dumpsters are a generous source good idea to get out of foodthe car at the Copenhagen airport.
