Paraparaumu

Paraparaumu is a town in New Zealand. It's a common place to be dropped, while heading either north towards Taupo or Auckland or south towards Wellington.

Hitching out

To head north from Paraparaumu check the posting on the Wellington page for the spot opposite boat city.

Heading south towards Wellington, try the intersections of Raumati road and state highway 1, there is a little space to pull over which is opposite the chocolate factory. Often you can grab a lift to Paekakareki, which is only 10 minutes down the road but has a far better spot.

To get to the Paekak spot walk along the highway from the village (there is a foot path on the right hand side) cross over the little bridge, then when the traffic is clear cross the highway and walk along the other side you will see a pull in area or rest area which has alot of space and area to stand. It's a great spot.
