It's easy to hitch in Brunei, even in Bandar Seri Begawan. The cheapest hostel is about 30 USD, the air conditioned airport is a friendly and safe place to sleep and for brushing your teeth in the morning.
If heading from Bandar Seri Begawan to Miri choose the coastal highway if you want to travel fast and get longer rides.
