'''Verona''' is a city in the North of [[Italy]]. It is close to the famous [[Lake Garda]] (Lago di Garda), where many german tourists can be found. Maybe you can also try to hitchhike from there (but [[User:Quarim|Quarim]] found it difficult in June 2009).
== Hitch-hiking ==
I haven't tried hitch-hiking directly from Verona but have from Peschiera, that is a place near Lago di Garda (and Gardaland). The train from Verona to Peschiera is about 5 euros and there was no control in the train because the distance is really short, but if you pay (and keep) the ticket you can store your luggage in Gardaland for free.
When you get to Peschiera it is about 2-3 kilometers walk from the center to the entrance on the highway and you can hitchike from there.
== Sleeping ==
There are hills just near the center around Castel San Pietro and probably stealth camping is possible there, but there is also a great camp: http://www.campingcastelsanpietro.com/articles.asp?id=8
They have clean showers separated for men and women, a big terrace with a kitchen and free wi-fi and power outlets. The price is 8 euros per person + 8 euros for a small tent spot (tent not included).
The camp is on the hills that overlook Verona, just above Castel San Pietro

Be sure to go to the tourist info office near the Arena because you can get a free map and discounts on different things such as tickets for the shows in Arena or Gardaland.
There is free wi-fi at every major square/street in Verona but you need a password which you can get at the National Library (also in the center, ask for directions at the tourist office).
