Hello I want to get from Madrid to idanha a nova lake in Portugal near Castelo Branco. can anyone help me with any tips on getting west from Madrid?? Thank you!

On June 28th 2011, I successfully hitch-hiked from Madrid to Lisbon, Portugal. There are no indications to go west in the description of Madrid, so here's what I did: I took the metro 6 to Alto de Extremadura and went to the gas station on Avenida de Portugal (A - 5). From there I reached in two rides the gas station at Km 48 on the A - 5. There I found a truck, that took me straight to Lisbon. This should be a good place to get a ride all the way to Portugal.
