This Direction north-west there is the motorway E61/A2 starts from the Ljubljana bypass. The best way to join this motorway is from towards Kranj through the street Celovška cesta, at the bus stop Šentvid Karawanken Tunnel (stand in the corner before the bus stop!!Slovenian: ''Predor Karavanke''). Get there by bus number 1, 25, or 8 from over the pass over the city centre in direction of Vižmarjeborder to Villach (slov. If people who pick you up don: 't go as far as you like, you can get a lift as far as the first "Petrol" gas station 'Beljak'') in Austria and further on on the highway (17km away) or the former toll station Torovo Tauern-motorway to Salzburg and keep hitchhiking thereover to Germany. There It is also a petrol station at the Radovljica-exit (right before Bled) which way that is useful used by most of those numerous Germans that go to the Croatian coast for getting into Austriahollidays.

Just ask people at the gas station.There is a shower in the gas fuel station for €33 eur and places for wild camping around. If your destination is Venice or further, the easiest way is via Nova Gorica (town on the walkable distance from Gorizia, Italy): use sign GO and ask to be dropped at the service area on the border. For Trieste it doesn't work well with TS sign - best option might be to use Koper sign and then ask the driver to drop you off at Kozina exit (go right in the crossroads after toll booths). It's only 3 km from the border and on the main Rijeka-Trieste road. If your destination is Rijeka, take also rides going to Postojna or further west. Get out at Postojna exit and walk across the highway from there (use the bridge). If your destination is [[Venice]] From the city centre (Dunajska cesta, Slovenska cesta) take the bus number 6, 1, 1D (direction Dolgi most) or further6B (dir. Notranje gorice), the easiest way is via Nova Gorica: use sign GO and ask to bus stop "Dolgi Most". You will be dropped at the service area off on the bordera large parking lot right next to a motorway bridge. For [[Trieste]] There is also a Bicike(lj) (bike rental) station nearby, if you prefer it doesn't work well with TS sign - best option might be to use [[Koper|KP]] sign and then ask taking the driver to drop you off at Kozina exit (go right in the crossroads after toll booths)bus. It's only 3 km from On the border and on opposite side of the main Rijeka-Trieste road, there is a busy motorway entrance with a great hitchhiking spot where cars can easily see you and stop safely.

If your destination is [[Rijeka]]April 2024: Unfortunately, take also rides going to [[Postojna]] or further west. Get out at Postojna exit and from there walk across after the highway (use reconstruction the bridge). There is entrance doesn't make such a good hitchhiking spot anymore. Hitchhiking is still possible, but stopping has became much more difficult for drivers. The Barje rest stop is recommended instead, or try to hitchhike southwards just few hundred meters after get a pick from the bridgePetrol gas pump on Tržaška cesta.

When you reach the overpass look for a very small and steep pathway on your right, starting next to go the overpass. Descend down to the fence, turn right and walk a few metres untill you reach an unlocked door. When you're on the other side of the roadfence, it's a bit dangerous you should already be able to see the rest stop. Follow the pathway for another 100 m or so and there you are. So take all your time guys! Stayed 30 to 50 minutes then picked There is a ride direct to zagreb in a truck shower for 3€ and places for wildcamping around.

The on ramp beside the Lidl on Pot Rdečega križa is a 20min walk away from Mestni Log bus station. Most people here are heading south, but we found a ride to Šmarje - Sap gas station after an hour.

Sservice area "Barje", in direction of Zagreb. This service area is on the Ring around Ljubljana and is very well-served by a lot of long-distance drivers. To get there take bus number 1 or 1B in direction Mestni Log from the center. Go off one stop before last, called "Koprska". Continue straight (the bus takes a turn just before the stop "Koprska" - don't follow it, go straight on!) on the street Cesta v Mestni log, after 2 minutes you will cross a bridge over a small river. Continue straight and cross the motorway over the bridge, and on the left side the service area is about 500 m away. There is a golf course between you and the service area, which you can cross by climbing its fences (not too high) if the personal allows you, which hasn't always been the case. If they don't, you should take an immediate left directly after crossing the highway (youOption 2: Highway entrance Barjanska cesta're still on the bridge at that point), descending to the guardrail. You are now between the golf course's fence and the highway, which is quite a narrow path at some points. After a few hundred metres, you'll get to the resting area. Hitchhiker [[User:Looking for Stu|Looking for Stu]] discovered that bus 1 will drop you by the side of the golf course at what appeared to be the last stop before returning to town. No problem hopping the fences and crossing the course away from the busy motorway edge.

November 2017 - Easy to get Catch bus 9 in direction of "Barje" from the center or the train station and exit on the final stop "Barje". You can hitchhike next to the spot via golf course (metal gate slides open), also jumping parking lot or walk down the fence no problem. There were two of us "barjanska" street and it was impossible try to get find a ride, slow traffic coming throughbetter place. We asked all truck drivers but they were concerned with That's the border crossing. This was a Monday morning 9am we waited until 2pm. There one person that suggested we should HH entrance people from Vic being a popular spot for HHers. We couldn't really find Ljubljana would use to enter the spot on the maphighway going south, so gave it a miss. I think if you are one person this spot is okaymight be less suitable for long distance picks, but perfect to get you to Novo Mesto.
