Hitchhiking out

East towards Velsk via the Konosha-Velsk Highway (11K-001)

The exit from the settlement is at the end of Oktyabrsky Prospekt, which goes east from the central square of Konosha. You can stand after the last houses or a bit further, where there is another group of houses.

South towards Vozhega and Vologda via the Nyandoma-Sokol road

The exit from the settlement is in the Selkhoztekhnika (SHT) area. Walk along Sovetskaya or Vokzalnaya Street toward the railway crossing – you can try hitchhiking from there, or walk a little further along Olimpiyskaya Street, past a small shop near the edge of the settlement.

North towards Nyandoma via the Nyandoma-Sokol road

Other useful info

There are city buses running to all parts of the settlement and occasionally beyond, though infrequently. Suburban buses only serve the district. There are trains (elektrichkas) to Vozhega and Nyandoma (once per day each), and a train to Velsk operated by women (also once per day).

There are chain stores "Diksi" and "Pyaterochka" in the settlement, and a "Magnit" is under construction. There are also local shops, but they are usually more expensive and may have expired products. However, there is a tasty delicatessen in the center offering pastries and other delicacies.
