Hitchhiking out
Hitchhikers seeking to hitch out of the city would be better advised to catch a bus to somewhere else in Rhode Island, as it is very difficult to catch a ride in Providence itself. For example, to hitch into 
, take the 60 bus ($2.00 fare) a few stops to Wampanoag at Mobil Gas Station, and ask around there. The bus stop heading towards Providence drops you right at the gas station, though the bus away from Providence, you'll have to cross through busy streets.
