Hitchhiking out
North towards Kamloops
If possible, take the city bus to Emerald Estates, and get off at the furthest bus stop along the highway. Walk down the road 50 m, and there is a straight stretch with a wide shoulder where getting rides is fairly easy. While there isn't much traffic north of Whistler, getting a ride is fairly easy in these parts.
South towards Squamish
First, go at the crossing of the Village Gate Blvd and the Sea-to-sky highway and walk south for like 1 minute until you reach the 60km/h speed limit sign. Then, walk for like 10 more meters and you'll see a place where cars can pull over. There is the spot. The cars can stop before and after the railing.
