Hitchhikernick - I hitched around Pohnpei for 10 days October 2023. Waiting times were around 10-15 mins on average, went all over island on ring road and some back roads.
Be very careful around Kolonia at night as there are a lot of aggressive dogs and i had to fend off packs in over 5 occasions in the space of 500meters, quite a few all over island so be prepared with stick/rock whilst walking. Got bitten on first night when walking from airport, went to hospital and informed that most A&E cases were dog bite related.
Camping not the easiest as familys own most of the land and people everywhere, though is possible if you ask drivers for good quiet spots, be well prepared for rain as it rains so much that abandoned cars are covered in moss.
