If you want to go in the direction of [[Kaiserslautern]] (or farther south) a good place to start is the "Pariser Tor[http://hitchwiki.org/maps/?place=5091]" on the "Pariser Straße". The speed limit there is 50 km/h and the cars will have enough place to to stop.
Next servicestation in petrol stain direction of Saarbrücken is "Homburg" on A6, ~20km after Kaiserslautern.

You can take the train to Frankfurt Airport (ticket should be around 4,.50€). Next to the regional train station there are machines where drivers pay for their parking so you can ask them for a lift.
