Miami is a city in the American state of Florida.
Hitching out
South towards Key Largo
The Miami metro area is a mess to get out of. If you are willing to spend about 5 US dollars to better your odds, find the nearest Metrorail station going towards Dadeland South station. If you aren't near one and are near a Metromover instead, take the Metromover to the station Government Center and from there get on the Metrorail. Once on the Metrorail go all the way to Dadeland South. From there take bus number 38 which goes all the way to the Homestead/Florida City area, the southernmost suburbs of Miami which lie along US Highway 1. Most cars continuing south from there will go to the Florida Keys.
