Until a revolution or some form of ''perestrojka'', '''North Korea''' is probably the last country on the face of the planet Earth where you can go put up your thumb on the side of the road. Local people will be punished if you (as a foreigner) talk to them. Travels to North Korea will only be approved if somebody from the government shows you around and guides you. You cannot travel freely in North Korea and the roads are empty. You'll probably have more luck in [[South Korea]].
