A clearer possibility is to go the roundabout which splits the road to Møllevannsveien on one way and highway on the other. Most drivers are probably going shorter distance but DO NOT hesitate and take one of the cars, ask them to drop you off at a bus stop. You will have a better chance to get a ride and you won't be stuck there. It took cRosKy no more than 10 minutes to get picked up.
==Ferry to Denmark==
There is ferries going a few times every day, operated by two different companies, between Kristiansand and Hirtshals (Denmark). Unfortunatly they are very difficult to hitchhike as tickets are usually prepayed. As Norwegians use these ferrys for daytrips to buy cheap onboard taxfree goods, its worth knowing that the price for a "return on the same day" ticket is often cheaper then a "one way" ticket. Wednesdays tend to be a "bargin ticket" day going as low as 3-5 euro.
The trip takes about 3 hours, and its usually easy to ask around for a ride further south onboard the ferry. www.Colorline.no / www.Fjordline.no
== Accommodation and Sleep ==
The forest right outside the city center (5-10min walk) "Baneheia" possibly has some restrictions on camping and has a lot of recreational users, but discrete campers have been able to spend a good nights sleep there without any trouble. The lake 3.Stampe in Baneheia offers a wonderful oppertunity for a swim for those in need of getting the road-dust/stink of themself, as well as public toilets.
